First of all, huge thanks to everyone who voted for me in the Deli Magazine’s “Artist of the Month” Poll – I won!  I couldn’t have done it without you.  

I’m also chuffed to have received a couple of really lovely reviews of the EP this week, you can read The Deli’s review here, and a review on the UK-based Louder than War here.  If you haven’t heard the EP yet, you can stream it, download it, or order a CD (hand printed! limited edition!) here.

And if you’re in or near Portland, I have lots of gigs lined up.  My next is tomorrow afternoon (Friday 26th) at the Oregon Potters Association Ceramic Showcase at the Oregon Convention Center – I’ll be playing at 1:30 whilst attempting not to be distracted by all the lovely ceramics.

Next Thursday (May 2nd)  I’m playing a full band show at Portland’s revered record store, Music Millennium.  We’re on at 6 – come before or after happy hour (you know it’s always happy hour somewhere), and don’t forget to have a good browse!

The Eloquence EP is out now!  You can get hold of your copy on CD or download here, if you like.

The launch party was a big success, with quite possibly the nicest audience ever.  There might be photos and/or videos, but in my pre-show madness I forgot to put a memory card in my camera, so if anyone who was there got any good shots or footage let me know!

Meanwhile, the EP has been getting attention from various publications including the Portland Mercury, which offers me my most amusing press quote yet (“perhaps more important than cheese”), and Follow You has been featured as Song of the Day on For Folk’s Sake.  Voting is still open for the Deli Magazine “artist of the month” poll – at the moment I have a healthy lead, so Thank You if you’ve already voted for me!  But who knows, the other bands might all have last-minute strategies, so if you haven’t voted and would like to, here’s the link.

Tomorrow (Tuesday 16th) I’m playing at the Jade Lounge (24th + Ankeny St) with the lovely sirens Maggie Gibson and Anna Spackman.  If you’re in Portland, come and say hello – it’s happy hour all night!

Ok, I’m off to enjoy a little sunshine by bicycle – Portland in the springtime is extremely lovely.

Just one week left until I release my new EP, “Eloquence”… for anyone who’s in Portland, the release show will be at The Waypost on Saturday 13th April, at 8pm.  It’ll be a lovely evening in a cosy venue, and dear friends Denim Wedding will also be playing.  If you haven’t heard them yet, you’re in for a treat.

I’ll also be releasing the EP online via Bandcamp, as digital downloads and as limited edition CDs.  I had a lot of fun designing and hand-printing all of the artwork!  As they’re hand made, each sleeve is slightly different, and each one has been numbered before being lovingly glued together.  Except for a few which lacked love and got sworn at – glue guns get very hot, oww!  But I managed to put 300 of them together and my hands are fully recovered and the CDs are just waiting to get into your CD players.

And another snippet of news is that I’ve been nominated for the Deli Magazine‘s Artist of the Month Poll, which is a nice surprise!  Polls need votes, so if you feel that I might be deserving of the title, please click here to vote!

Hello folks,

I hope you’re enjoying a spot of sunshine, as I am today.

It’s time for a little update on gigs and such.

My next gig is on March 19th at the Thorne Lounge (42nd and Hawthorne).  It’ll be my last gig before my EP Release Show (oh, go on, let’s have a drumroll then, twist my arm…).

To celebrate the launching of my little EP into the world and the ether (and hopefully some very lovely ears) I’ll be performing at The Waypost (3120 N Williams, Portland) on Saturday 13th April.  I hope your ears will be amongst the lovely ones.

Oh, I almost forgot, I had some photos taken recently by Jason Quigley.  Here’s one from inside a creepy graffiti cave in Forest Park.

I have a strong suspicion that time has sped up since the new year.  Things I have been doing recently include having a bad cold (I’m better now, phew!), making preparations to get my new EP out into the world, opening for Denim Wedding‘s EP release show at the LaurelThirst Public House, and starting to record my next album!

Busy busy.

Here’s a little preview of the artwork for the EP.  I’ve been busy making lino prints, which I haven’t done since school.  Lots of fun!

My next gig is with lovely Kelsey Lindstrom at the Camellia Lounge (510 NW 11th Ave, Portland) – come and have a cuppa with us!

I hope you all had a lovely time over the holidays and are feeling as optimistic about the year ahead as I am!

My first gig of the year will be next Friday 11th January at the Elixir Lab, 2734 NE Alberta St, Portland, with Denim Wedding and Jeff Donovan.

Other exciting things are in the works too – I’ve been working on an EP which is finally coming together and will be ready for ears everywhere very soon, and I’m also preparing to start recording a full-length album… I can’t wait!

A quick update on gigs this month, just two of them, but both free entry:

Tonight (Monday 3rd December) I’m playing the featured artist slot at Vivace Coffee House’s Living Room Sessions at 8:30, with open mic happening before and after my set.  Open mic-ers are invited to sign up at 7:30 and bring friends to enjoy yummy crepes and music!  (NW 23rd & Pettygrove.)

Next Tuesday (11th) I’m playing at Eric John Kaiser’s downtown singer-songwriter showcase at The Thirsty Lion (71 SW 2nd).  Music starts at 8:30.

Big thankyous to everyone who’s been coming out to hear me play, it’s really wonderful not only to be doing something that I love, but that you love too… thank you all :)

I made a little video of one of my new songs – it’s called ‘The Circus Ring’.  It’s been absolutely chucking it down here in Portland, so if the weather is similarly gloomy where you are perhaps it’ll help to fortify against the winter blues :)

Big thanks to everyone who came out on Saturday night to support the Schools and Arts Together fundraiser!  You were a lovely bunch.

I’m playing more gigs this week.  Tomorrow (Tuesday 16th) I’ll be at the Jade Lounge (24th & SE Ankeny) at 7pm, with two wonderful singer-songwriters, Margaret Wehr and Anna Spackman.  The Facebook event is here, if you’d like to know more.

On Wednesday (17th), I’m heading up to North Portland to play at the Songwrecker Cabaret at Sundown Pub (5903 N Lombard) at 9pm.  Also playing is the fabulous Carley Baer - it’s gonna be another good ‘un!

And on Thursday (18th) – this is *new* news – I’ll be joining the lovely duo Denim Wedding at Eugenio’s (36th & SE Division) to play a completely acoustic set…let’s hope I’m still in good voice by then.
